
Deborah Coy
Deborah Coy joined Bonhams London in June 2024 as a US-based fine art consultant,specializing in 19th Century European Art after a 35-year career at Christie's,culminating as Head of the European Art Department from 2003. Ms. Coy also workedas an appraiser and specialist at both Sotheby's and Philips.
During her tenure as Head of European Art at Christie's, Ms. Coy oversaw recordsetting sales of the most important artists in the category, including William Adolphe Bouguereau, Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot, Gustavo Courbet, Vittorio Corcos, Alphonse Mucha, Jacques-Emile Blanche and Herbert Draper among others.
Most recently, Ms. Coy directed the sales of the European paintings in some of the most significant collections sales of the last decade, including The Estate of David Rockefeller, The Ann and Gordon Getty Collection, and Visionary: The Collection of Paul Allen. She has also sold works of art on behalf of major North American Museums, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Brooklyn Museum, The Minneapolis Art Museum, The Art Gallery of Ontario, The Toledo Museum and theChicago Art Institute.
Ms. Coy holds a B.A. in Art History from Wellesley College, an M.A. in Art History from Williams College and a J. D. from Villanova University.
