
Tim Teuten
Tim Teuten is Bonhams' African & Oceanic Art Consultant based in London. He works closely with Émilie Jolly, Head of African & Oceanic Art in Brussels, on the saleroom's biannual auctions. The inaugural sale will be held in December 2024.
Before joining Bonhams, Tim worked as a Consultant for the German auction house Lempertz for nearly 14 years, where he organised their Brussels African & Oceanic Art auctions, as well as three major summer exhibitions. Prior to that, he was Head of the African & Oceanic Art department at Christie's for a decade, overseeing auctions in London, New York, Paris and Amsterdam, including the collections of Alan Mann, Josef Herman, Baron Freddy Rolin, Mrs Nelly van den Abbeele, and Russell B. Aitken.
Tim holds a Bachelor's degree with Honours in History of Art from the University of East Anglia. An active member of the Pacific Arts Association and the Museum Ethnographers Group, he is the author of The Collectors' Guide to Masks and several articles in periodicals.
