Elizabeth Muir

Elizabeth Muir is a Senior Specialist and Head of Sale in American Decorative Arts and Americana based in New York. As a USPAP certified appraiser, she also assists clients with fair market value and replacement value appraisals. Elizabeth has a great love of Shaker furniture, 19th century blown and pressed glass, as well as 18th century folk art and loves the rich material culture inherent to the field of Americana.

Prior to joining Bonhams, Elizabeth worked for two other international auction houses, as well as the Smithsonian Cooper Hewitt Museum. She has lectured on Erastus Salisbury Field at Historic Deerfield and antebellum New York for the Victorian Society. She is a director on the board of the Art Glass Forum of New York and is also member of the New York Silver Society, as well as the Young Georgians.

Elizabeth received her master's degree in the history of design and curatorial Studies from the New School, where she specialised in 19th century decorative arts. She is a Historic Deerfield fellowship alumnus and worked on the 19th Century New York Crystal Place exhibition at Bard Graduate Centre in 2017.
