Louise Williamson
Louise Williamson is Tax and Heritage Consultant at Bonhams in London, where she advises on HMRC's Conditional Exemption and Acceptance in Lieu schemes, which are tax exemptions available in the UK to owners of 'pre-eminent' works of art and cultural objects, as well as other tax and heritage issues affecting Bonhams' clients.
Prior to joining Bonhams, Louise trained and qualified into the private client team at Withers LLP, where she worked for nearly 10 years, specializing in international tax and estate planning. She was lead associate of the private client art law practice in London and a member of the Withers' firm-wide art law team. As well as advising on the various UK tax exemptions for art and cultural property, she handled a range of other art-related matters, including suitable structures for holding art; remittance issues for UK-resident and non-domiciled individuals purchasing art, the import and export of art; and anti-money laundering regulations.
