
Lazarus Halstead
Lazarus Halstead is Head of Chinese and Asian Art, London. He works across our New Bond Street and Knightsbridge salerooms.
Lazarus has been working in the field of Chinese Art for more than 10 years. He previously founded a successful Asian Art department at a London auction house where he introduced themed sales and sales of Fine Chinese Paintings, building up the sales over a period of 8 years.
Lazarus joined Bonhams in 2022. He works regularly with important collections and has a track record of important discoveries. In 2024 he identified a rare Imperial vase which sold in Paris for excess of €1.1 million including premium. More recently he discovered a pair of magnificent Imperial bronze alloy chimera identifying them as Imperial commissions which sold in Paris for in excess of €4 million including premium in 2025.
Lazarus studied for his BA in Archeology and Anthropology and MPhil in Chinese Art at Oxford University, and Chinese at Peking University in Beijing.
