Lorenza Gay

Lorenza Gay is a Cataloguer for Bonhams Books & Manuscripts department in London.

As an art historian with a particular interest in iconography, iconology and the history of the book, Lorenza holds a PhD from the Warburg Institute in London, where her research focussed on the depiction of pagan gods in 14th- and 15th-century French illuminated manuscripts. She received a Masters degree in Art History, Curatorship and Renaissance Culture from the Warburg Institute in collaboration with the National Gallery, London, and Masters in Art History and a Bachelors in History, both from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan.

Before joining Bonhams in May 2022, Lorenza worked in the rare books trade for an antiquarian book dealer. She has curatorial experience through collaborating with UK and European museums and institutions – including the Warburg Institute's Aby Warburg Mnemosyne Atlas exhibition, organised with the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin, and The Shape of Time exhibition, organised with the Poldi Pezzoli Museum in Milan.
