Sophie von der Goltz

Sophie von der Goltz is Specialist for European Ceramics at Bonhams New Bond Street in London. She has worked on exceptional sales such as Important Meissen Porcelain from a Private Collection (Parts I-III), the Heinrich Rothberger Collection and the Collezione Fiordalisi of Neapolitan Porcelain.

Since joining the department in 2013, Sophie has particularly specialised in French 18th century porcelain and in 2021 co-organised the non-selling exhibition of Everyday Rococo - Madame de Pompadour and Sèvres Porcelain in honour of Dame Rosalind Savill.

Before Bonhams, Sophie completed an MA in Fine and Decorative Art and spent some time organising exhibitions at a modern and contemporary art gallery in Mayfair. She has been a Trustee of the French Porcelain Society since 2013 ( Treasurer from 2015 until the end of 2023) and is also a member of various other ceramics and decorative arts societies. She regularly speaks at conferences and meetings of academic societies, such as the Northern Ceramic circle and the International Society of Cane Collectors, and has worked on translations for German books on Meissen and for the German journal KERAMOS.

Sophie is fluent in English and German.
