Charles Lanning

Charles Lanning is Bonhams Director of the UK regions. Based in Exeter, he manages our network of offices across the UK, from Truro to Edinburgh. His areas of expertise include clocks, watches, silver and furniture, with a particular interest in the Arts and Crafts period.

Joining Bonhams in 1990, Charles worked for many years as a Senior Valuer and auctioneer. He has made some fabulous discoveries, spanning an Old Master painting by Giuseppe Zocchi (1711-1767), which sold in London, New Bond Street for £1.3million; a rare Imperial puce-enamelled blue and white 'dragon' moonflask, which sold in Hong Kong for HK$5.68million; and a rare Rolex stainless steel Comex Sea Dweller watch, which sold in London, New Bond Street for £150,250.

Charles brings significant experience to Bonhams and is involved with Private Collection sales, as well as working on some major insurance, probate and formal valuation work throughout the UK.
