The auction, dedicated to Hockney together with his contemporary makers, muses and friends, showcased the artist's prolific printmaking career and unrelenting desire for creative innovation from the 1960s to the present day.

Bonhams Editions I & II Sales achieved an impressive total over £1.5 million, with 86% by lot and 100% by value for David Hockney & Friends.

Carolin von Massenbach, Bonhams Head of Prints & Multiples, commented: "We are delighted with the results of both of today's sales, which saw impressive prices achieved across the board with such an amazing variety of works on offer. In addition, our dedicated Hockney sale proved that the market for his works, especially from the early stages of his printmaking career in addition to his later iPad drawings, is particularly strong.
