Bonhams Hong Kong Watches Celebrates Racing Inspired Timepieces with Advanced Engineering and Hand-crafted Watchmaking

Hong Kong – Bonhams will present the Hong Kong Watches sale on 23 May 2025, celebrating the world of watchmaking including notable timepieces with advanced engineering and rare hand-crafted designs. These racing inspired timepieces all share a link with renowned car maker Ferrari, and like their super cars, push the limits of what is
possible in watchmaking. The live sale is led by Richard Mille, Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe and two impressive single-owner collections.

Leading the sale is a limited-edition Richard Mille, reference UP-01, ultra-thin titanium wristwatch made in collaboration with Ferrari, circa 2024. The watch is a testament to the brand's pursuit of innovation and excellence in watchmaking pushing the boundaries of design and engineering, Richard Mille set a new standard with the UP-01, an ultra-thin timepiece that combines cutting-edge technology with exquisite craftsmanship. The UP-01 is a marvel of minimalist design, featuring a sleek and elegant profile that measures just 1.75mm in thickness a feat of meticulous engineering. With only 150 created, the rare design is one of the world's thinnest timepieces and is also one of the lightest at 2.82 grams. Offered with an estimate of HK$6,400,000-11,000,000.

The lot is a limited-edition of around 150 that were created, making it a grail level timepiece for collectors."

Another notable lot is an Audemars Piguet, Royal Oak Concept Laptimer Michael Schumacher, reference 26221FT, circa 2015. The forged carbon and titanium skeletonised flyback laptimer chronograph wristwatch, designed in honour of the legendary Formula 1 driver Michael Schumacher, who raced with Ferrari and won five consecutive titles from 2000 to 2004. The current lot is in brand new condition and is a limited edition of just 20 pieces, offered with an estimate of HK$900,000-2,000,000.

Another racing themed highlight is a Hublot, LaFerrari, reference MP-05 timepiece circa 2018. The limited-edition titanium, carbon fibre and diamond-set skeletonised vertical tourbillon wristwatch is a masterpiece that mirrors the innovative spirit of its namesake. Its design takes inspiration from the LaFerrari hyper car, most notably with a dial featuring exposed inner workings that evoke the car's rear engine. The watch boasts a 50-day power reserve, a world record for a hand-wound tourbillon wristwatch. Offered with an estimate of HK$600,000-1,000,000.

Another notable Richard Mille is a limited-edition Bonbon Collection, 'Sucette' (or 'Lollipop' in French), reference RM37-01, circa 2019, known for its vibrant and whimsical design inspired by confectionary. Featuring a ceramic and pink gold case that highlights its grand feu enamel dial and black-chromed titanium elements, the colourful dial evokes the playful spirit of candy. Produced in a limited edition of 30 pieces, the rare watch is being offered for the first time at auction with an estimate of HK$1,700,000-3,000,000.

Hong Kong Watches celebrates the art and mastery of enamel in watchmaking with Patek Philippe's "Rare Handcrafts" timepieces that offer technical prowess with timeless design. Sale highlights include:

• A rare and impressive limited-edition, Patek Philippe Calatrava 'Mount Everest', reference 5089G-029, circa 2015. The white gold wristwatch with Cloisonné enamel dial is an early example of what eventually would become the "Rare Handcrafts" series for Patek Philippe. The watch is a limited edition of 10, and it is the first time the watch will be offered at auction. The single factory sealed and brand-new in condition watch is offered with an estimate of HK$600,000-1,200,000.

• A limited edition Patek Philippe Calatrava 'Dom Robert', reference 5077G-100G-055, circa 2022. The white gold and diamond-set wristwatch with Grisaille enamel dial with bird motif, is from the 'Rare Handcrafts' collection from Patek Philippe. The design was inspired by the tapestries of famed French Benedictine monk and painter Dom Robert, whose work explored elements of nature. The watch is in pristine condition and will be offered for the first time at auction with an estimate of HK$600,000-1,200,000.

Hong Kong Watches includes two single-owner collections, the first featuring neo-vintage timepieces from an avid lover of classic watchmaking that blend traditional designs with modern technologies. The second single-owner collection showcases Piaget's use of exceptional stone dials, from lapis-lazuli, malachite and meteorite.

Neo vintage highlights include:

• A Vacheron Constantin perpetual calendar, reference 43032/6, circa 2000. The yellow gold perpetual calendar wristwatch with moon phases and leap year indication, is offered with an estimate of HK$100,000-200,000.

• A limited-edition Roger Dubuis, Hommage Chronograph, reference H40, circa 1998. The white gold chronograph manual wind wristwatch with black dial is an exceptional timepiece that seamlessly combines refined aesthetics with expert craftsmanship. The Hommage series represents Roger Dubuis' deep appreciation for horology and is offered with an estimate of HK$100,000-200,000.

• A Daniel Roth, reference C137BASL, rare yellow gold monopusher chronograph wristwatch, circa 1990. The prestigious limited-edition manual wind timepiece with silvered guilloche dial, is the sixth of only 36 pieces crafted in yellow gold. The design showcases Roth's ability to seamlessly merge contemporary designs with timeless style firmly establishing him as a luminary in modern watchmaking. Offered with an estimate of HK$100,000-200,000.

Piaget highlights include:

• A limited-edition, Piaget Altiplano malachite marquetry tourbillon, reference P11485, circa 2018. The pink gold Altiplano tourbillon watch combines Piaget's expertise and craftsmanship with its ultra-thin design and malachite dial crafted by a stone sculptor and master craftsman. The impressive timepiece was limited to eight pieces and is offered with an estimate of HK$180,000-360,000.

• A limited-edition Piaget black tie vintage inspiration, reference P11354, circa 2017. The white gold wristwatch with a rare one-of-a-kind crisscross pattern meteorite dial and cushion-shape watchcase is offered with an estimate of HK$130,000-260,000.

• A Piaget Altiplano, reference P10902, circa 2013. The white gold wristwatch with striking Lapis Lazuli dial, is offered with an estimate of HK$40,000-80,000.
