Bremont with Hand Painted Dial by Ronnie Wood is the Highlight at Bonhams Watches and Wristwatches Sale

London – Bonhams Watches and Wristwatches live sale on 11 September 2024 featured 150 lots of exceptional timepieces including coveted models from Rolex, Patek Philippe, Jaeger LeCoultre, Audemars Piguet, Heuer, IWC and Cartier. Notably the sale also presented a series of military watches including models from the 'Dirty Dozen' and in contrast a unique Bremont triple calendar wristwatch featuring a hand painted dial by Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones.

The 150-lot sale made a total of £650,176 with 88% sold by lot and 93% sold by value.

Charles Dower, Bonhams Head of Knightsbridge Watches, said: "The Bonhams Watches and Wristwatches sale included fine examples of desirable timepieces from the most illustrious designers with extraordinary craftsmanship, presenting designs that are both wearable and highly sought-after watches in today's market. Competition saw bidding by international buyers, achieving figures above the pre-sale estimates."

Leading the sale was a limited-edition Bremont 'Rock-A-Bye' automatic triple calendar wristwatch with moon phase and hand painted guitar dial by Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones, circa 2021. Ronnie Wood collaborated with Bremont to create 47 hand painted dials while on tour with the Rolling Stones, each dial is unique. The watch sold for more than three times its pre-sale estimate to achieve £21,760.

Other notable lots included:

• A Heuer Skipper Carrera "Skipperera", reference 7753, stainless steel manual wind chronograph bracelet watch, circa 1970. Inspired by the 1967 America's Cup Winner 'The Intrepid', Jack Heuer commissioned the 7754 to commemorate the win, it remains one of the brand's rarest and most coveted watches. Featuring colours directly taken from 'The Intrepid': a deep metallic blue sunburst dial, mint green subsidiary seconds and tri-colour green, mint green, and orange 15-minute
count-down register. The watch sold for more than its pre-sale estimate to achieve £15,360.

• A Rolex Comex Submariner, reference 5514, circa 1975. The rare stainless steel automatic bracelet watch was made for Comex and sold for more than its pre-sale estimate to achieve £28,160.

• A Rolex Day date, reference 18030, circa 1984. The 18K gold automatic calendar bracelet watch with Khanjar emblem sold for more than its pre-sale estimate to achieve £17,920.

Other sale highlights included:

• A Rolex Datejust, reference 81319, circa 2008. The lady's 18K white gold diamond set automatic calendar bracelet watch sold for more than its pre-sale estimate to achieve £11,520.

• A Patek Philippe Calatrava, reference 4809, circa 2000. The lady's 18K gold manual wind wristwatch, retailed by Tiffany & Co. sold for more than three times its pre-sale estimate to achieve £10,880.
