There was spirited bidding on exceptional diamonds and gemstones with outstanding provenance at Bonhams London Jewels sale on Thursday 12 November. An important Fancy Pink Diamond and Diamond ring, by Meister, circa 1968, sold for £838,750, surpassing its pre-sale estimate of £550,000 - 750,000.
Dame Joan Collins took centre stage at the sale – her collection of jewellery was 100% sold and achieved three times its pre-sale estimate. Part of the proceeds of the sale of the jewellery will be donated to The Shooting Stars Children's Hospice, of which Dame Joan Collins is a patron. Of note was an exquisite and rare Diamond brooch by Van Cleef & Arpels, circa 1935, which achieved eight times its pre-sale estimate of £15,000 -20,000, realising £122,750.
Bonhams Jewellery has an established history when it comes to selling spinels – today a Spinel single-stone ring sold for £46,500, tripling its pre-sale estimate of £15,000 - 20,000.
In total, the sale made £3,769,123 with 75% sold by lot and 81% sold by value.

• A Natural Pearl and Gem-Set Necklace and Earclip Suite. Sold for £32,250. (Estimate: £8,000 - 12,000).
• An Onyx and Diamond 'Panthère' dress ring, by Cartier. Sold for £15,875. (Estimate: £6,000 - 8,000).
• A Pair of Onyx and Diamond 'Panthère' earrings, by Cartier. Sold for £17,750. (Estimate: £4,000 – 6,000).
• A Sapphire and Diamond Ring. Sold for £144,000. (Estimate: £75,000 - 100,000).
