Footnotes

Carson's study is a key Downstairs set which sees many revelations, reprimands and reassurances throughout the Downton Abbey seasons and films. From meticulously tracking the wine usage in the Cellar Book (to Barrow's peril in Season 1) to moments of reprieve from the bustle of Mrs Patmore's kitchen, it is a symbol of Carson's status as head butler.
