Footnotes

"Cass Elliott and Gary shared a close friendship that lasted a lifetime. Gary designed Cass's house in Laurel Canyon, and she was so impressed by his work that she insisted he create her album covers as well. Her album was the first he ever worked on, marking the beginning of their long creative partnership. When it came time to design the 'Bubblegum...' album, Gary fondly recalled how he had everyone chew bubblegum so it could be kneaded like dough, then shaped and hand-cut to form the frame for the front cover—a process that sparked plenty of laughter."
- Jenice Heo, Grammy award-winning Art Director and wife of Gary Burden
