The A. Lange & Söhne Datograph has always enjoyed a dedicated fan base, establishing itself as an essential piece for serious collectors. Recognized as a milestone in contemporary watchmaking, its exceptional finishing quality has earned praise from top watchmakers worldwide. Many regard this model as one of the finest mass-produced wristwatches ever created. The reference 405.035 in platinum debuted at SIHH in 2012, followed by the pink gold version in 2015, which replaced the original 1999 model. This new edition featured technical upgrades and aesthetic changes while maintaining the essence of the original. The case size increased from 39 mm to 41 mm, and the power reserve extended from 36 hours to 60 hours. The dial also saw the replacement of Roman numerals with batons and the addition of a small power indicator at six o'clock, earning it the nickname 'Up/Down' among collectors. The sapphire crystal case back offers a clear view of one of the most impressive, beautifully finished manual-wound movements ever assembled, with each Lange movement bridge engraved in a unique way by their dedicated watchmaker. For lovers of the German maison, the current example will be sure to be a thrilling addition to their collections.
