Footnotes

This work and MG.177 were commissioned to Edward Bawden by Hurwood Press for the proposed publication Edward Bawden: War Artist, but the publishers received so few orders that it was not published.

The book eventually appeared as a more modest scale publication in 1989 by Scolar Press, Edward Bawden: War Artist, and his letters home 1940-45.

The lithographs meant to accompany the special edition of the book were nevertheless released in editions of 75 by Hurwood Press.
