A good small late 19th century French bell striking gorge cased carriage clock

The ribbed handle over a large bevelled glass inspection panel, repeat button and similar side panels on a moulded base, the underside with six circular apertures to allow the sound of the bell to travel. The signed white enamel Roman dial with minute track and moon hands over an Arabic alarm setting dial. The movement with silvered lever platform escapement, compensated bimetallic balance striking the hours on a bell and the half-hours on a smaller hammer. The backplate with engraved signature Ch. Oudin. Medailles De 1806 A 1862. Running, striking and repeating. 14cms (5.5ins) high.
