He illustrated over 30 classics including "The Velveteen Rabbit", "The Wizard of Oz", "Mother Goose's Nursery Rhymes", "The Tale of Peter Rabbit and Other Stories", and the brothers Grimm "Fairy Tales", among many others. Before his death, Atkinson was about to publish his first book; "Jack in the Green". The present illustration is part of Atkinsons series of works created for the Brothers Grimm "Fairy Tales" published by Simon & Schuster, New York, NY, 1982.
