Bonhams is delighted to offer Champagne Barons de Rothschild "Le Grand Clos" Historic First Release | Best of British Cellars. This sale brings together the wonderful new release from Champagne Barons de Rothschild and is followed by three key cellars of note.
Bonhams Wine and Spirits is privileged to partner with the wonderful Champagne Barons de Rothschild to offer the first three numbered bottles of their exquisite new prestige cuvée, Le Grand Clos 2019.
Lot 1 will offer collectors and connoisseurs a truly historic opportunity: the very first three numbered bottles of "Le Grand Clos 2019" - 0001, 0002, and 0003/1788 - each bearing the signature of one of the three barons present at the creation of the cuvée: Benjamin de Rothschild, Eric de Rothschild, and Philippe Sereys de Rothschild.
This exclusive preview sale marks the worldwide launch of this rare cuvée, the fruit of unique expertise and centuries-old heritage. The three bottles are presented in a unique oak box crafted for the occasion. The winner of the lot will also receive a comprehensive experience including a tour of the winery, a tasting, a lunch or dinner with a member of the Rothschild family, and an overnight stay in Champagne.
Proceeds will be donated to the One Drop Foundation, founded by Guy Laliberté, of which Champagne Barons de Rothschild has been a long-time partner. The One Drop Foundation's envisions a sustainable future with safe water for all. Its mission is to unite people and empower communities to solve the water crisis through innovative, sustainable action. This once-in-a-lifetime offering marks both the 20th anniversary of Champagne Barons de Rothschild and the global debut of Le Grand Clos, a wine destined to become a benchmark in prestige Champagne.
We follow this historic release with more icons of wine history. Drinking vintages of both Roomier and Rousseau are offered in magnum alongside a wonderful assortment from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. This particular collector has wonderfully eclectic tastes with Sassicaia and Screaming Eagle also represented.
We have another unique, varied and broad collection to follow with iconic Bordeaux with Margaux, Palmer and Cos d'Estournel represented, Burgundy with Leflaive and Dujac rubbing shoulders with Charles van Canneyt and Les Horées, a superb line up of Vieux Telegraphe, Italy with Dal Forno and Tignanello and a myriad of collectible new world domains represented from Penfolds to Opus One via Catena.
