A 50-Bore Percussion Self-Cocking Five-Shot Revolver Of Bentley Patent Type
Retailed By Shaw & Son, Worksop, No. A.760., Mid-19th Century

With blued octagonal sighted barrel signed along the top flat, cylinder with turned forward edge and numbered from '1' to '5', border engraved frame, butt, trigger-guard and case-hardened hammer all decorated with scrolling foliage, the last with sprung safety-stop, rammer with knurled finial, chequered figured rounded grips, and some original finish, especially on the barrel, Birmingham proof marks

Shaw & Son appear not to be recorded, though some information exists online stating that the site of the current Liquorice Gardens, Newcastle St., Worksop was once occupied by a branch of Reuben Shaw & Son's Ironmongery business, possibly the retailer of this revolver
