An 80-Bore Percussion Five-Shot Pepperbox Revolver
By G.W. Bales, Ipswich, Circa 1850

With fluted barrel-block, threaded ramrod centred on the muzzles, flash-shield with knurled edge, border engraved box-lock action decorated with foliate scrollwork and signed on a scroll on both sides, dolphin hammer, engraved thumbpiece safety-catch, blued folding trigger, chequered figured rounded butt with vacant silver escutcheon, and retaining some case-hardened finish overall, Birmingham proof marks
