A 16-Bore Flintlock D.B. Covert Gun

With rebrowned twist sighted barrels, case-hardened recessed patent breeches engraved with a starburst between and each with gold line, rectangular gold-lined maker's stamp of fourth type, and platinum-lined touch-hole, border engraved tang decorated with a small martial trophy and foliage, and with a starburst in the sighting groove, border engraved serial numbered flat locks each signed in capitals and decorated with a gamebird in a landscape on the tail, rainproof pan, border engraved 'French' cock and roller (one steel an old replacement), figured half-stock with chequered grip, border engraved steel mounts comprising butt-plate with a gundog and gamebird in flight on the heel tang, trigger-guard with large pineapple finial, decorated with a similar scene on the border engraved bow, and serial numbered within a starburst on the scroll, rear ramrod-pipe with pineapple finial, silver barrel-bolt escutcheons, and brass-mounted ramrod (some old rust patination), London proof marks
