A Dutch 18-Bore Flintlock Service Pistol
By Thone, Amsterdam, Late 18th Century

With sighted barrel and tang, the former stamped with Amsterdam mark at the breech, rounded lock (action defective) signed in capitals beneath the brass pan (fractured near the steel retaining screw), figured full stock with apron around the barrel tang, regulation brass mounts including escutcheon engraved with crossed anchors between 'AA', belt-hook, and brass-tipped wooden ramrod (split through and repaired)

Lambertus Michaelis Thone, probably the most important gunmaker in Amsterdam at the end of the 18th century, was born in Liège, and became an Amsterdam burgher on 17 July 1781.
