A Japanese Matchlock Carbine Of Small Bore
Edo period, 19th Century

With russet barrel with stepped gold-inlaid octagonal muzzle (fore-sight missing) and inlaid overall in silver with a honeycomb pattern (some losses), the breech with engraved gold inlaid butterfly mon and two gold lines at the rear, copper back-action lock retaining traces silvering, match-holder, external mainspring and pan-cover all engraved with foliage, cherry wood full stock with copper trigger-guard, button trigger and mounts all decorated en suite with the lock, and wooden ramrod
