A 54-Bore Flintlock Turn-Off Pocket Pistol
By Isaac Pratt Of London, Circa 1775

With turn-off cannon barrel (some old pitting), breech engraved with acanthus at the rear, border engraved tang decorated with foliage, border engraved lock and cock both decorated with foliage, the former signed in capitals, figured half-stock (fore-end with old chip and some bruising) carved with a shell (old damage on one side) behind the tang and with rounded swelling butt, cast and chased brass mounts comprising pierced trophy of arms side-plate with foliate cartouche, vacant foliate escutcheon, border engraved grotesque mask cap, and border engraved trigger-guard with pineapple finial and decorated with a starburst on the bow, private Birmingham proof marks and barrelsmith's mark 'K.T' crowned, probably of Thomas Ketland

Isaac Pratt is recorded as 'Gunmaker, Hardwareman & Ironmonger' at 8 Throgmorton Street, London between 1771 and 1776. He was elected Master of the Gunmakers' Company in 1778, and was Gunmaker to the East India Company between 1773 and 1774
