A Rare Irish 80-Bore Percussion Three-Barrel Box-Lock Pistol
By J. Neill, Belfast, Circa 1830

With turn-off barrels, the bottom barrel stamped with Irish registration no. D-N 1042 for County Down, foliate engraved breeches, signed border engraved action decorated on one side with gun dogs in a landscape, and with pheasants on the other, one perched in a tree, foliate engraved hammer with hand-rotated nose of Rigby type, tang decorated en suite with the breeches and hammer, chequered figured rounded butt, vacant silver escutcheon, and folding trigger (iron parts pitted)

John Neill is describes himself as 'Of Purdy's, London,' and is recorded in Belfast between 1830 and 1872, the year of his death
