Footnotes

An untrimmed UK "Gone with the Wind" Style A quad from the promotion of Irvin Kershner's Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. Considered to be one of the rarest of all the Star Wars saga posters, this British UK quad for the release of the film in 1980 features artwork by Roger Kastel. It is often affectionately referred to as the "Gone with the Wind" style, due to its similarities to the classic 1939 movie poster.

After a very limited initial release, many of these posters were trimmed for usage on the London Underground. However, this is an untrimmed poster, considered to be the 'Holy Grail' of Star Wars posters by collectors, with a 10/10 rarity rating from writer Stephen Sansweet in his Star Wars Poster Book.

This highly sought after quad poster contains the full Roger Kastel artwork, that included Lando Calrissian, Boba Fett, and a Hoth Rebel trench cannon to go along with the familiar and iconic "Gone with the Wind" pose of Han Solo and Princess Leia. The billing block is found in the right hand corner along with the 20th Century Fox, Dolby Systems box, Sphere paperback, and RSO Soundtrack emblems. The quad was printed by W. E. Berry Ltd. Bradford, and it contains the tagline, "The Star Wars Saga Continues" at the top, and the "U" classification rating symbol. This poster was replaced early on in the promotional film campaign, by the other two more commonly found style "B" Empire Strikes Back quads, making it a rare find.
