Gus Dudgeon:
Gus Dudgeon was one of Britain's most successful record producers. His early pop successes included the Zombies single She's Not There in 1964 and John Mayall's album Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton in 1966. He then produced David Bowie's Space Oddity in 1969, and soon after began working with a then-unknown Elton John.
Dudgeon was best known for his collaboration with Elton John, with their first collaboration on Your Song, which became Elton's first substantial hit. Dudgeon went on to guide Elton through the decade and launching albums such as Madman Across the Water, Honky Château, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, and Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy. Their collaboration led to seven US No. 1 albums, and established John as one of the most successful singles artists of the 1970s.
