Four Rare Copper George Washington Inaugural Buttons
North America, c. 1789
Collection of excavated buttons manufactured in honor of George Washington's inauguration as the first president of the United States on 30 April 1789, including three 35mm buttons in the "Dotted Script" pattern with the initials G.W. encircled by a band inscribed "Long Live The President," together with one 34mm "Thirteen Stars" button with central sun motif and inscribed "Unity Prosperity Independence" on border, each approx. 1 3/8 in.
