This rare Burmese scene, depicts a variety of river craft, bullock carts on the shore, the Shan hills in the distance and on the far left, two lions which mark the foot of Mandalay Hill. The artist appears to have combined elements of Mandalay, such as the tiered spire of Mandalay Palace and of Sagaing - notably the rounded pagoda (Kaung-hmu-daw). On the right are the clustered white pagodas of Ava.
