Album compiled by Hugh Edwardes, 6th Baron Kensington (1873-1938), whilst serving with the XVth Hussars, stationed at Meerut in the early twentieth century. He was winner of the prestigious pig-sticking Kadir Cup for 1908, played polo for the regiment, and owned several fine horses. These activities reflected throughout the album.
Images include: Keddah series; Polo matches at Meerut 1901-1903 (Kensington representing his regiment the XVth The King's Hussars); portraits of Kensington's ponies 1902-1903; several good polo group shots including Lucknow Open 1903, Inter-Regimental at Meerut 1903 (and printed programme); International Cup Delhi Durbar 1903; The officers of the XVth The King's Hussars in full dress for the Delhi Durbar 1903 (helmets on/helmets off) and 4 other images of the regiment at the 1903 Durbar; photographs, letters and printed ephemera relating to the 1908 Kadir Cup, won by Lord Kensington. Together with items relating to the Hog-Hunter's Dinner at the Savoy hosted by Robert Baden-Powell with the Prince of Wales in attendance in 1929.
