Footnotes
Bligh's own account of the mutiny on the Bounty, "one of the most remarkable incidents in the whole of maritime history" (Hill), written and published within months of his return to England. The work also includes the narrative of his subsequent journey when, set adrift with eighteen loyal crewmen, he sailed to safety, covering over three and a half thousand miles in six weeks, "an extraordinary feat of seamanship" (Wantrup).
