L'idole sportive du moment est Georges Carpentier et l'éducation physique des jeunes passe par la boxe. Dans le décor feutré des « Bains de Mer », deux jeunes boxeurs s'affrontent lors d'une démonstration en plein air, sous les regards chapeautés de l'élégant public de la villégiature normande. Mais à la fin de cet été 1922, le 24 septembre, le Français, battu par le Sénégalais « Battling » Siki, perd son titre de champion du monde des mi-lourds.

Georges Carpentier is the sports idol of the moment, and youth physical education involves boxing. In the refined setting of the "Bains de Mer," two young boxers face off in an open-air exhibition, under the watchful eyes of the elegant, hat-wearing holiday crowd of Normandy. But at the end of that summer, on September 24, Carpentier is defeated by Senegalese boxer "Battling" Siki and loses his world light heavyweight title.
