Signed Ye Zhongsan, dated jiyou year (1909); Signed Ye Zhongsan, dated wushen year (1908); signed Zhou Shaoyuan, dated jiyou year (1909); signed Bi Rongjiu (1874-1925), dated kuichou year (1913)
Comprising: an inside-painted 'filial piety stories' snuff bottle painted on one side with Zhang Yazi presenting his elderly mother with the fish she craves and the reverse with Zhou Tanzi camouflaging himself in a deer's skin; an inside-painted 'Xi Hu Zhu' snuff bottle, painted on one side with a scene of Xihu Zhu (The Princess of West Lake) from The Liaozhai Zhiyi (Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio) by Pu Songling and a lotus pond on the reserve; an inside-painted snuff bottle with ladies on one side and a landscape scene on the reverse; and an inside-painted bottle depicting a literary scene on one side and a scene of boys at play in a garden to the reverse, stopper. The largest 8cm (3 1/8in) high (5).
