Footnotes

The painter's mark is recorded as a flower painter between 1757-64, possibly for J-J. Mongenot or M. Socquet; see David Peters, Sèvres Plates and Services of the 18th Century, vol. I, 2005, p. 95. A Vincennes écuelle 'à quatre pans ronds' together with its stand is illustrated in T. Préaud/A. d'Albis, La Porcelaine de Vincennes, 1991, no. 112.

A very similar green-ground stand of 1758 was sold at Christie's New York, 1-2 March 2005, lot 302; and again on 22 October 2020, lot 71.
