A Meissen plate, circa 1740-45

Painted with the Schmetterling pattern of a butterfly perched on a branch of indianische Blumen, the well with a border of four flower panels reserved against a gilt and iron-red border of chrysanthemums and trellis, the rim with four flower sprigs within a gilt and iron-red band of scrollwork interspersed with flower-heads, 22.9cm diam., crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, impressed 20 (minor rubbing)
