Footnotes

Another vase Saïgon mounted on an identical base from the collections at Sèvres is illustrated in Susan Weber and Charlotte Vignon (eds.), Sèvres Extraordinaire! - Sculpture from 1740 until Today, 2024, p.311, fig. 6.24 (MNC 8984). This particular version includes decoration by Auguste Rodin who was hired by the Sèvres manufactory for two days a week thanks to Carrier-Belleuse between 1879 and 1882. Rodin also worked on several other vases Saïgon with pastel ground colours during his time there, a later example of which is in the Musée Rodin (S.06758).
