A Sèvres matched tea service (déjeuner Hébert), dated 1769 and 71

Each painted by Jean-Charles Sioux (l'ainé)in blue camaieu with trailing flower garlands, the tray with garlands hanging from bows and a central stylised floral and scrollwork motif, the rims with gilt foliate border between blue bands, comprising: a tray (plateau Hébert), a milk jug (pot à lait à trois pieds of the second size), a teapot and cover (théière 'Calabre') and cup and saucer (gobelet 'Bouillard' et soucoupe of the first size), the tray: 28.6cm long, interlaced LL monograms enclosing date letter Q (the tray, teapot and milk jug) and S (the cup and saucer), painter's marks for Sioux, incised marks (6)

Footnotes

The border pattern on the tray and milk jug is slightly different to the one on both the teapot and cover and the cup and saucer. It is likely that this pairing is original and pieces were pulled from the storage shelves of the manufactory to make up a déjeuner, which would also explain the different date letters.
