Note
In 1968, Pirkle Jones published his 'Portfolio II', a collection of 12 photographs taken between 1947 and 1958 that he felt best epitomized his oeuvre. 'Cowboy, Arizona' was selected for inclusion in the final group of images, and the portfolio was published in an edition of 110. The present print was made by Jones circa 1967 and is one of only a handful of extant prints of this image made before Jones compiled the Portfolio.
