Rory Gallagher: A Fender Twin Amp Amplifier,

Serial no. 0070 written on maker's label inside, tweed cover, two 12in speakers, with green flight case,

Footnotes

Acquired by Rory circa 1973 and used until the late 70s. This amp is similar to one used when Rory played on the Jerry Lee Lewis album The Session...Recorded In London With Great Artists and as seen in photographs taken during the recording in January 1973.

Rory also used his Fender Twin amp linked to his Vox AC30 (see lot 63) for the Irish Tour '74 album and associated tour.

"I've always used an AC30, for twelve, fifteen years. But right now I'm using a Fender Twin, a 1955 model I got in the States: it's the one Holly and Cochran used to have, and it's really good. It means a slight change from the Vox...the Fender is a little on the clean side: it makes you work a little harder. It's nicer for the slide too, it's clearer."
- Rory Gallagher, Guitar magazine, 1973.
