Footnotes

This guitar was purchased by Rory in London in the 1980s.

Introduced in 1959 with a Les Paul Junior-style single cutaway body, the double-cut version came a couple of years later, in 1961. All of the electronics were assembled on the pickguard and installed in a rout in the front of the body. The strings were anchored at a wraparound bridge/tailpiece and ran to a thin, straight-sided headstock. A Maestro vibrato option was offered in 1962 and, from the evidence of the screw-holes, this guitar may well have had one fitted; unsurprisingly, Rory did not keep it.
