Private American collection.
with Rupert Wace Ancient Art, London.
Property of a French private collector, acquired from the above, 15 August 2008.

This fine ring bearing a crescent moon and two stars can be associated with the moon goddess Selene, commonly depicted with a crescent moon, often in association with two stars which represent Phosphorus (morning star) and Hasperus (evening star). In antiquity the moon and stars were honoured and connected to the cycle of death and rebirth.
