F.P. Journe, founded in 1999, initially crafted its watch movements from brass, resulting in a limited production of about 2,000 units. These early brass movements are now highly sought after in the market. From 2004 onwards, the company switched to using gold for all its movements. The current lot is a 'Brass Movement' Octa Reserve de Marche that boasts a second hand with a more substantial counterweight compared to the slimmer ones found on later models with gold movements or as service replacements. The pink gold dial is a particularly scarce and stunning variant and exudes a beauty and luster characteristic unique to early F.P. Journe dials and especially pronounced in sunlight. It is a beautiful example of independent watchmaking when F.P. Journe was still relatively unknown in the world of horology and is most definitely a timepiece for discerning collectors to consider.
