The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona, which debuted in 1963, was designed to fulfill the precision and dependability needs of professional racecar drivers. In 2002, a whimsical special edition was released, paying homage to the historic speed trials at Daytona Beach, earning it the moniker "Beach" likely due to its vibrant aesthetic of its four-color variants. Offered in four hues of green, blue, pink, and yellow, the timepiece featured dials crafted from turquoise, green chalcedony, and both yellow and pink mother-of-pearl, paired with lizard leather straps that complemented the dial's color. The current lot, the turquoise dial version is possibly the most popular of the four, as the "Tiffany" blue craze took over the watch world with the final release of Patek Philippe Nautilus & Tiffany & Co. 5711 in 2021. It is a beautiful example of Daytona with a dial color that was truly ahead of its time and is one most Rolex enthusiasts dream of adding to their collections.
