Footnotes

For a similar cross pendant by Carlo Giuliano, circa 1863-1895, see Munn, G. Castellani and Giuliano: Revivalist Jewellers of the Nineteenth Century, p.161, pl.167-168.

The style of enamelling used on this jewel derives from English 17th century prototypes, which provided a popular range of designs for revival jewellery workshops.
