SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND NECKLACE, 19TH CENTURY

Designed as a graduated series of openwork plaques, each centrally set with a cushion or oval-cut sapphire, between cushion and pear-shaped diamonds, each connected via cushion and rose-cut diamond-set coronet and figure of eight knot motifs, the front five sapphires weighing 3.64, 4.71, 6.29, 6.65 and 6.95 carats, the clasp set with a sapphire cabochon, mounted in silver and gold, cushion and pear-shaped diamonds approximately 22.60 carats total, length 42.0cm

Accompanied by a report from SSEF stating that the largest sapphire weighing 6.949 carats is of Sri Lankan origin, with no indications of heat treatment. Report number 142192, dated 30th October 2024.

The sapphires weighing 6.29 carats and 6.65 carats accompanied by a report from The Gem & Pearl Laboratory stating that the sapphires are of Sri Lankan origin, with no evidence of heat treatment. Report number 25235, dated 18th October 2024.
