Bonhams Whisky and Spirits department is delighted to present the first UK auction of 2024. The sale, which comprises a wonderful array of the finest spirits produced from all over the word, will run from Monday 26th February until 12 noon GMT (1pm CET/7am EST/8pm HK) on the 6th March.The sale contains a very healthy representation of one of Scotland's most celebrated distilleries, The Macallan. Leading the auction is the Select Reserve-52 year old-1946 (Lot 39) in pristine condition. Unusually made with peated malt due to high post-war coal prices, it is widely considered to be one the greatest spirits ever released by the Speyside distillery. The sale also features two bottles of The Macallan Royal Marriage (Lots 17 & 18), vatted in 1981 to celebrate the marriage of the then Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer. A rare offering at auction, we are also delighted to include The Macallan Decanter-25 year old-1963 (Lot 38) presented in a stunning Tudor Crystal decanter. A number of Macallan spirits, bottled by legendary independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail, also feature, with distillations from 1940, 1966, 1974 and 1998.Heading over to Campbeltown, there is a stunning selection of private bottlings from both Springbank and Hazelburn, and a particularly special Springbank-18 year old-1973 (Lot 4) bottled for charity by William Cadenhead, featuring a hand annotated rear-label signed by John McDougall, their renowned distillery and production manager. A few very special cognacs with incredible age finish the sale, with bottles of the Grand Fine Champagne Cognac-60 year old distilled in 1904, and the Renault & Co, 100 year old (Lots 89 & 90).Alongside these prestige expressions, we also have a selection of more affordable bottlings, such as the Brora-20 year old-1975 (lot 64), and a Cadenhead's bottling of Glen Mohr-1975 (Lot 59).
