Footnotes

西藏 十九世紀 不空羂索觀音唐卡

Amoghapasa represents a tantric form of Avalokiteshvara and refers to a compassionate, unfailing lasso which saves all sentient beings from suffering and into a state of ecstatic enlightenment. The present work's composition and palette are reminiscent of a thangka of Rakta Lokeshvara from the Rubin Museum of Art, New York (F.1996.12.1; HAR 449).
