A BLUE SILK BROCADE 'NINE DRAGON' ROBE, JIFU
Qing Dynasty, 19th century
Finely woven on the front and back panels and both arms with the prescribed nine dragons in pursuit of the flaming pearl, hovering above the terrestrial diagram and the lishui stripe at the hems, amidst cloud clusters interspersed with bats and various beribboned auspicious emblems, all picked out in gold thread against a blue ground, with black and gold striped sleeve extensions and matching black and gold collar and cuffs, the interior lined in pale blue silk.
