The striking colour scheme and fine carving are rare among glass made in the late 18th and early 19th century. The diminutive size and the fine quality of the carving are very similar to those found on snuff bottles of this period, especially those attributes to Li Junting, active in Yangzhou in the early decades of the 19th century, sharing the same fine quality of carving and brilliant colour scheme. Compare a pale pink overlay pink glass snuff bottle, sold in Sotheby's Hong Kong, 26th May 2013, lot 173, and a rare six-colour overlay on pink glass snuff bottle, sold Christie's New York, 20th September 2005, lot 415, and a white and green overlay on pink glass snuff bottle, sold Bonhams 21st May 2009, lot 1016, and a white overlay pink glass snuff bottle, sold Sotheby's Hong Kong, 25 May 2014, lot 105.
